October Crossover 2024: #1 & #2

RED RIBBON REBORN - Ycrem0 - October Crossover #1 - 2024

#1 Info: This illustration is a tribute to Akira-Toriyama-dono (Dragon Ball Creator) & Kazuki Takahashi-dono (Yu-Gi-Oh! Creator). Frieza (Dragon Ball Z Villain) & Magician of Black Chaos (Yu-Gi-Oh! Monster) were used as inspiration to create my character and scene. October Crossover will feature a mash-up of tribute features from the three mangaka that I probably mentioned that passed away some years ago.

All October Crossover illustrations are mostly redesigns to other creators works

with features you may recognize, except not exactly the same as the original design.

This is my way of sharing tribute art without copying or using the original creator's works.

The screenshot pose used is when Frieza is in his first form used a big ball of energy to destroy the Saiyan race backing Bardock (Goku's Dad) against his rule over them or the universe as a tyrant. My created character is a Red Ribbon Army (DB Organization that creates androids to further their business goals) android spellcaster/magician that appears to be in the process of creating more devastation in the already blazing scenery.

I looked at Frieza in his first & fourth form, Magician of Black Chaos has noticeable elements added with colors and symbols relating to his attack too. This illustration is mixed media as every illustration will most likely be edited for better visual quality. Since the markers bled through my sketch book page, only color pencils will be used, until thicker pages can be bought.

LONE WOLF WAITS TO STRIKE - Ycrem0 - October Crossover #2 - 2024

#2 Info: This illustration is inspired by Yamcha(Dragon Ball Version) & Coyote Starrk(Tite Kubo-dono's Bleach - Living Creator). In Dragon Ball series, Yamcha's martial arts specialty technique is called Wolf Fang Fist. Therefore, Starrk and Yamcha has something in common with wolves as Starrk's resurrección Los Lobos has his soul split into wolf beings to use for multi-attacks.

The scene used for reference is the sitting or crouching pose of Starrk, after his Los Lobos transformation. My Character's Features: Long hair (Yamcha), extended tunic coat design (Starrk & Yamcha), ribbon on arm (Yamcha), tunic coat colors (Yamcha), extended boots (Yamcha), extended fur pants (Yamcha & Starrk), and pose (Starrk).

Instead of giving my character a sword like Yamcha or dual pistols like Starrk, I gave him a caveman club with obsidian (volcanic glass) shards sticking out from different areas. The club is blue (Yamcha's sword sheath color), so not regular wood or maybe a special kind of wood infused with something that changes the color. If you think of Aztec weapons utilizing obsidian, that is the idea to add that feature to his weapon.

Even though the scene is mostly in the sky with clouds, I had the urge to add the wolf spirit beside my character to represent Yamcha's Wolf Fang Fist or relationship with wolves that he has. Starrk's ability was taken into account too, except I will not delve into details about the character that is only represented as a tribute from inspiration at this time.

None of these characters I create have a specific background established or anything like that at this time, so they are simply models for now.

Creator Enlightenment: Be What You Can Be With What You Have & Can Obtain [RAW - NO EDITS YET]

Hi viewers.

Before I share two illustrations for my art challenge this year,

that piece of enlightenment I mentioned last month will be shared first.

Sometime last month, I was thinking most likely about being the creator

I would like to be as well as other things

relating to being artistically creative. To keep this kind of short,

I had forgotten what being a creator is all about.

I cannot remember how to word my thoughts about that

moment right now as it has been a while. Basically,

think of how a child is not restricted from their ideas

based on their imagination. Kids do not necessarily concern

their self about style, values, techniques, proportions, scale,

or doubt their abilities to portray the idea as ridiculous or without significance

to viewers and critics.

What I am telling you with this overall is to

not seek to conform or box your creative abilities into

a corner where there is no room or struggle with your natural flow

(style or way of creating). There is something you

are already capable of doing fairly well or possibly to your liking,

except other stimuli as well as what you are interested

in may be hindering you from being the creator

you are meant to be by doing what you are already able

to enjoy doing.

Unknowingly, we may be fighting against our natural flow

and trying to conform to the things we like that we

do not do naturally or does not come to us

to do fairly naturally with consistency and that could

be holding you back in some or a bunch of ways.

To shift the focus from you viewers to my experience,

I would like to be able to draw traditionally realistically/semi-realistically,

sketchy, and with a vintage/classic art elements used

from the 50s to early 70s mostly. Yes, I have many creators

that either interest me much or sought to imitate to the best

of my abilities at the time. Usually, I focused on being able to

draw other creator's works because I believed that if

I could replicate with decent results would let me know

that I could draw well enough to create for myself.

Not knowing better, that was not a beneficial approach for me,

even though like that for many years while trying

to teach myself how to draw for myself with similar

qualities from so-called professionals. Even so, those beginner

struggles or approaches to art were not for nought.

Back to the message... I can sort of take my time, be patient

with myself, continue to learn different aspects of art techniques,

enjoy the process, practice daily, and so on as the list goes.

The thing I am asking creators to do is not go against

your natural flow of creativity, enjoy what you are capable of with

any materials you have or prefer, find ways to express your message

or ideas through your own abilities, continue to learn what works for you

or the elements that make your art shine for you, do not doubt yourself or doubt

because others doubt your works, and realize that whatever others can

do is either their natural flow or techniques they have learned

to incorporate that gives their style its own platform to shine from.

Their style and ideas are not yours; your ideas and style are yours to nurture

into being for you or others to enjoy, if you chose to share.

For those of you who either do not mind fighting or

sacrificing your natural flow to conform or absorb a specific

style that is either trending, new, or from pastime masters of

your craft. This message is not necessarily for you, in terms of

values placed on professionalism, defining aesthetics, conditioning

rules, tradition, or other forms of creativity that may not allow for

a sense of freedom to express ideas in a way that may

be unique in the way you personally feel/believe your works to be.

Whatever works for the creators who are trying to find

their natural flow or way of creating, nurture and trust

that your abilities will blossom in ways you may not

have imagined overtime. I found out that color pencils

are revealing to me a quality in my cartoonist pursuits

that I did not believe in at first, for various reasons I

have mentioned in this post.

This did not turn out to be a short post as I would like them

to be, except hopefully those who read made it to

this point with something worth considering or to

think about on their artistic quest too.

You do not have to be a child or think like a child nor label

your abilities for attention, let your abilities shine

the way they can and focus on how that makes you feel.

I am leaving you with two images that can mostly

sum the message of this post or complement each other

regarding what I have shared overall.

Happy creating everyone and I do pray

you will find your natural flow soon,

while absorbing what works too.

Every Creator Has Their Own Natural Flow (Style) & Ideas - Enjoy Nurturing Yours
